Marin IJ article

Highlights:

Bridge bought. Old bridge would of cost $20 million to referb, plus another $30 million to replace in about 20 - 30 years. This way SMART saves $30 million, higher train speed(35 vs 10mph), faster bridge open/close time, and wider channel for barges.

Repeal effort was formally rejected by the board.
"SMART opponents collected 14,582 signatures, but needed 14,902 signatures to meet a basic threshold."

"The SMART board also approved a change of a station site in Rohnert Park, which has an impact on Novato."

"But with Rohnert Park moving its station closer to downtown, where there is more housing density, that average has been brought up. That allowed the Atherton Station back into the fold without additional housing needed in Novato."
