Room with a view

Klickitat Log and Lumber Company Shay 7 is switching the SP&S interchange in downtown Klickitat, Washington on March 26, 1964. The photo was taken from my hotel room. I was there to see the railroad shortly before it was abandoned. I'm not sure exactly when that was but, if I remember correctly, there wasn't more than a month or two left. Fortunately, Shay 7 was preserved, going first to the logging museum at Tacoma, Washington. Just recently, with the closure of the museum, the locomotive was acquired by Roots of Motive Power in Willits, California.

I can't think of any hotel rooms I've stayed in that offered a better view.
