The first shot is taken right off I-10 at Oak Valley Parkway which is the road down San Timoteo Canyon. You take this exit right after the HWY 60 exit if you are traveling westbound.. There is an access road that follow the tracks to a bluff that overload
that curve. No need to get on top of your vehicle as there is decent elevation at that spot.. I used to shoot there quite often during the SP days..
I was there a year ago and like you say it is a bit overgrown in places.
