With Sesame Street the single most profitable toy line to date, it would be nice to see some of those profits that the taxpayers helped to create go back into PBS so the taxpayer wouldn't have to be on the hook for the 12%. (According to our local PBS station, there is more than 12% federal funding in the form of federal moneys awarded to individual stations and federal moneys awarded to PBS stations tied to universities. The brochure our local station puts out puts total consistant federal funding at 33%, and federal grants that vary from year to year are on top of that, and our state also puts in money as well.)
