Come on....these would be the people who would help if you did get stuck. As someone who has been stuck in the sand many times, it pays to carry a good shovel and some planks, or at least some cardboard. And of course there is always the deflate the tires trick. Also, if you are about to cross a wash, get out before crossing, and walk it to check the firmness and plot a good route.
