The throttle lever extended just a little above the cab roof thru a hole. You got the locomotive rolling and you set the approx speed you wanted. As it passed you by next time around, you could "tap" the throttle "on the fly" for more or less STEAM. Plus, Mr. Smitty--
just about EVERYTHING you see in this film was made from scratch using raw materials by my Grandpa. Locos, rolling stock, signals, bridges, tunnels, turntable, switches, et al.
Made by HIM, and HE alone!! How many others can you think of that could do THAT ??
