Was There ABS on UP's San Pedro Branch?

There is a photo on P. 24 of the August 2009 issue of Railroads Illustrated of WP GP35 3013 passing a Block signal between Manuel and Paramount CA The Signal has the number of 180 and I know that it is not a distant signal for any automatic interlocking. Does anyone know about it and when it was removed?
Thanks
