Up here in Washington State, a similar stink is brewing over a proposed increase in export coal trains running through Seattle on their way to Roberts Bank, B.C. One lady said on the radio news that " ... the coal dust blowing off the cars is choking my son & I at Carkeek Park. " Considering the coal has been rolling down the tracks from Wyoming, I seriously doubt there is any dust left on the loads to blow off !!!
Even our lame - duck Governor, " Queen " Christine Gregoire, has come out in opposition to the increase, or to any new coal export terminals in Washington State. Of course she has nothing to lose. Never mind that coal exports would help our trade inbalance with China & South Korea. Also never mind the fact these countries will buy the coal from someone and burn it anyways.
