Hi Allan--
Not sure if the SP ever considered electrifying the double track mainline over Donner Pass, but there was some serious talk at one time of connecting the Pacific Electric to the Eastbay's "IER" and extending it over the Shasta Route to the SP "Red Electrics" in Portland, OR. Now THAT would probably have been a far larger electrified rail network than what exists back East. Too bad it didn't happen..

The KEY SYSTEM had planned on TWO extensions of the Transbay routes. One would shadow the "C"-Line and extend thru the Oakland hills to San Jose.
The other was a possible extension of the Key's "H"-Line from Westbrae in Albany, thru Richmond, and on to SACRAMENTO.. Wouldn't THAT have been something as well ??

Of course, the lack of sufficient money negated all these plans.
