Without trying to split hairs, can you define sponsored in this event? Usually, sponsorship implies that a significant financial burden has been assumed by another party. Did GCRy sponsor in that manner, or was it that they arranged for the train to run outside of the normal schedules, and then sold tickets?
I went there with my family of four in 2010 and was disappointed in the roundtrip cost of thier tickets. We could not afford it. And that was a diesel powered train with modern, sealed window coaches. Not much of a thrill there, so we drove to the GC instead.
Perhaps the cost of the tickets kept the head count to 55. Yes, I know these events are costly, but if 55 people is all that showed up, I would be curious as to why.
