A few years ago, I knew it was only a matter of time before the Portlanders and others in the urban Northwest would take notice of their ties to coal-fired power plants and take action to shut them down. They did, and they won. So it's absolutely no surprise to see similar protest against coal exports. But it's not going to stop there. I believe we're going to see things get even uglier once those same folks begin to notice the daily unit trains of Bakken crude rolling into Anacortes.
