I wish I could agree with you that the dome car is a nice addition to the MH. I really wish I could. And on the inside, it is a nice car.
But at slow speeds, on 10-15 MPH jointed rail, it's a HORRIBLE ride. My wife vowed she will never, EVER ride that train again. I wasn't sure if our car was going to re-dam the Hood River south of Dee. Our last trip (minus the wife) a couple weeks ago was in one of the ex-Long Island coaches - better ride quality, but absolutely miserable interior - uncomfortable commuter seats, zero legroom for adults - I felt worse than on my daily TriMet bus ride but at least I'm only on the bus for maybe a half hour.
