Regarding the ex-ATSF domes here is a link from John's Alaska Railroad Web Page. It details the rebuild for Alaska service and has additional pages for each car. There were 13 of them, a mixture of Budd and Pullman-Standard. 9 of them are in possession of Iowa Pacific and 4 with Royal Gorge in Colorado. I can't tell which one is in Glen Brewers photo. They looked beautiful in McKinley Explorer livery. With regards to the AC units, a sample cost is shown as $32,000 per car for the first six cars in the mid to late 1980's. Enjoy rooting around John's excellent web site.
