Actually, while unusual and not according to Hoyle, there were two 880 segments in California for quite some time; one from Oakland to San Jose, and the other - the I80 northern bypass in Sacramento. These were separated by roughly 80 miles.

The bypass has since been renamed as the main I80; while the old I80 freeway thru Central Sacramento was changed to "Business I80" - itself also not according to Hoyle. Its also confusing, because business routes are usually on city streets thru commercial districts - not freeways.
