I mentioned above that Dr.Jeff Crane (who lived in Sunnyvale) was a rabid railfan, modeler, leader of Boy Scout rail groups, nephew of Pennsy president and etc. Jeff traveled all over the country on vacations and visited train hobby shops everywhere------he was totally convinced that Vern Cole's Trainshop was the absolute best in the country, which is why his son David worked there for a time and maybe still does. I haven't been there personally for maybe 5 or more years but know that it was beautifully run, had a great inventory of brass models, and an incredible book inventory. And yes, Vern Cole was gracious and polite and accommodating to everyone, regardless of their knowledge level etc.
