I don't quite see how the UC is the root of the town's problems. What about homelessness and the fluctuations of a tourist economy and infrastructure? The UC at least helps to provide the community with jobs and support for some of the local research and technological firms. I just don't understand why complaints about Santa Cruz narrow down to complaints about UC Santa Cruz. To me, the whole place has some problems, but as a whole, and compared to many others, it's a pretty great community. That's why I've been so excited by Iowa Pacific, and really hope the dinner train does splendid and grows in to some more advances transportation systems along the rest of the line.
