PDX,
If the coal, or export ore, was destined for Metropolitan Stevedore in Long Beach, the PE and SP crews took care of spottong it. The Harbor Belt Line folks were pretty much limited to the Sasn Pedro area. When I worked the PE in Long Beach, we would be on a regular job at the LB terminal and when the coal or ore trains were on their way, the Tainmaster at LB would send us in a cab, or by carryall, to City of Industry, or sometimes Los Nietos, to relieve the Indio crew and we would take it to LB to spot at Metro.
