Re: More St. Charles Street Car Pictures
According to
Canal Streetcar the Carrollton Station carbarn wasn't flooded (the Uptown area wasn't flooded at all), but the south side was damaged by heavy winds (mostly just the overhead and rolldown doors); the A. Philip Randolph SIS (Storage, Inspection, Service) Facility (a.k.a Canal Station), where the Canal and Riverfront streetcars and city buses are stored, did get four to six feet of water, which damaged the trucks and electrical systems on the cars stored there (the red 2000-Series Von Dullen cars used on the Canal Street line also use LRV trucks and electronic control systems, which adds significantly to the cost of rebuilding them). This is why the 900-series Perley Thomas cars stored at Carrollton were running on the Canal Street line so soon after Katrina.
