Tracie Cone used to be a feature writer for the San Jose Murky West magazine and once interviewed Carl about our move of the orchard biz from Silly Valley to Modesto. She later bought the Hollister Free Lance and with her partner, owned cattle property IIRC in the area. She sold the paper some years ago and re-located to southern California or Arizona. She is a very very savvy lady. Much of the ag land being up for solar power grabs is cattle grazing land with no water. The values have soared. There is a war right now about property on highway 25 south of Hollister/Paicines where someone wants to install a giant solar power commercial plant but some of the locals are wringing their hands over the destruction of "the viewshed" and endangering the usual suspect animals and upsetting the sheep and on and on and on--------------if any of you are familiar with the moonscape area west of Buttonwillow in the Temblor range, there is an area called California City which has been the site of a giant photovoltaic "farm" for years.
Thanks for the reference to the article. I have forwarded it on to several of my conservation minded friends.
