Surprisingly, not too often. Depends where and when.
Most shots from the platform that I take are not during
hours where there are a lot of people on the platform.
There's generally no issue at the smaller - non-Amtrak
stations along the Corridor (used for SEPTA or NJT) but
at the larger ones, the ones with cameras and sometimes
police and transit force - it's hit or miss whether you
can "get away with it" and hit or miss whether you are
allowed to stay after "being caught".
I try to keep it covert but worse case scenario is two
cops coming up, asking all kinds of questions (which
is probably a good thing), but then instead of using
common sense and good judgement, I sometimes get asked
for ID (not required) and they may take my information
down - at that point, I either go with it, or if I have
the time to spare, I might kindly object and take my
chances. No jail time yet. Consequently, no law suits
either.
I feel like I'm in the USSR answering this question, but
there's a reason. Just wish more common sense was being
applied. Freedom's not free, right? Though I have found
situations where security would simply like to get back
to reading their magazines and books without anything to
distract them.
