Yesterday around Boardman it was totally quiet on the UP from mid-morning to early afternoon, then a steady parade of trains in both directions until dark.
Also noticed a brand new ARMN Trinity reefer in a new higher number series - no graffiti! (yet)
Railex at Wallula (Port of Walla Walla Co) has opened a new wine warehouse in the middle of the loop. Additional track will be built due to increased business and to serve the wine warehouse. The "loop" concept hasn't really turned out to be an efficient arrangement for their operation. Railex will be opening another facility in the Southeast. Sounds like the Salad Shooter/Super Fruit from Delano and Wallula will combine at Green River as they do now, then the train will split further east for Rotterdam and the new SE facility.
The Trinity ARMN reefers assigned to Railex are starting to show the wear and tear from their high cycle use. Maybe the new cars are to fill in and for the expected icnrease in traffic?
Expect wine to move in both directions, and maybe the new SE facility will attract orange juice to move west?
