Chrome Crankshaft also ran a loco resale/salvage yard in San Bernardino in the old ATSF A yard (correct yard designation). I saw them scrapping the SP Alco Centuries there after the only offer they had was to salvage the engines which went to a Canadian railroad. I believe they served ATSF, UP and SP - as did the scrap yard on Terminal Island. All closed years ago. There was also a small company just east of West Colton/Bloomington yard. I remember finding one of the old frames from either a xCentury slug or FM brake sled half buried nearby - all the concrete ballast poured in the frame prevented its economical scrapping any further.
Kyle also scrapped several locos in the San Diego area. xSP SW8 w/dynamics was scrapped in San Diego. It had been stripped for parts as rebuild cores for another unit. I think it was the #1111 was scrapped in San Ysidro. It had been stripped for rebuilding and many of #1118's complonents were sitting next to it ready for installation. There may have been another scrapped in San Ysidro - Kyle did take some of the better xSP SW8s to Kansas - are any left there?
