The Solarium is indeed a privately owned charter car and quite a beautiful one at that. I have ridden her (and the Silver Lariat) on the San Jouquin on a day excursion. Great ride that happens every so often.

If you ever get a chance, I highly recommend getting on board a trip with the Solarium and/or Lariat. They are great cars owned and staffed by some nice people.
