The elevator from street level to concourse in New York City's Pennsylvania Station is the same way. It's a shame to see mothers with baby carriages and wheelchair-bound people forced to endure it. Of course there is little to attract anyone to what's left of Penn Station theses days. The cattle pen that is called the Amtrak waiting area is pretty horrible too.

However, Grand Central Terminal really is grand although the former base for New York Centrals fleet only see's commuter trains now.
