I thought I read somewhere that LA Metro would like to use that old station as a terminal for trains from Long Beach and Santa Monica to LA on the Metro blue and Expo lines.

If and when the LA connector is ever built the present 7th Street end of the line for Blue and Expo trains would be extended to Union Station to run thru on the Gold line to Pasadena and East LA but some trains could be turned back at that old terminal.

I think it may be practical from an engineering standpoint because the extension would pass very close to the old terminal but I don't know if it is too expensive or there are other problems
