Thanks very much for the great photos of those wonderful old
locomotives we (the GGRM) used to have at Hunters Point.
Sure brings back memories. :) Poor ol' 4450 -- as I have said
other places, she sure deserved much better than what has
happened to her. At least she is now in Portola, where the
WP RR Museum folks will take good care of her. But my fondest
wish is to see both her and the 4451 ("Puff") restored and operating,
pulling passengers again as they were meant to do. Yes, I know both
are in poor condition, and have been vandalized. Nothing that
money can't fix eventually. (Hey -- I can dream, can't I?)
Loved the photo of the #49 -- that was a neat paint scheme the
State Belt put on her to honor the SF 49ers. AFAIK, she is still
"working for her supper" in SF, although repainted back to her
previous paint scheme, (and given her old number, 25), which
matches the #23, who is also -- AFAIK -- still working for the
State Belt in SF.
The GGRM is currently raising funds to restore the SP 6380 --
oneof two F units we have. AFAIK, there are no plans yet to do
anything with her sister, the SP 6378.
