You and some friends could charter the "Tioga Pass" for not as much as you might think. Contact Norm Orfall at www.ridemytrain.com. If you do not want to charter "Tioga Pass," the car makes trips out of Los Angeles fairly regularly, that you could pay a resonable fare, to be one of the few passengers on, and take advantage of a not so crowded trip.
