Starved for some high speed rail?
Need a reprieve from Amtrak's Hungry Hungry Hippo Talgo train?
Here is a set I'm rather proud of which features Amtrak's
Acela Express in high speed rail trials which occurred last
Fall. The goal was to study and analyze the effects of run-
ing the current fleet of Acela Express sets at 165+ mph along
a stretch of the North East Corridor.
Testing was done Sept 25th and October 10th, late at night in
2012. I captured as many unique angles of the event from as
many unique perspectives as possible under very difficult
circumstances - primarily, speed and lighting. Photos I was
not successful in getting during the trials (2), I finally
got last week to round off the stories in stills.
Enjoy! Details below images:
Whooooosh! Leaving a trail of sparks!
Whoosh! Not a light streak, but a body blur towards classic PRR signals
Yet another late night high speed runby!
An Aclea flies past the station with the flash capturing #2012's logo, number and stripes!
And last - captured! How was it possible?
Freeze frame! Aclea #2013 Captured streak free!
Hope you enjoyed!
