An interesting side light to the O&NW story surrounds the line that ran east from Seneca.

I was working for the Oregon DOT when we received an abandonment notice for the Bear Creek Mainline Railroad Company. The abandonment was for an eight-mile section of track runing easterly from Seneca. Apparently when Snow Mountain Pine purchased the Edward Hines mill at Hines they discovered that their "logging" railroad was really a common carrier and no one had filed an abandonment process with the ICC even though the tracks had been removed earlier.
