Want help on history of BNSF Joint Line

I've been doing research on the PRB Joint Line and have come to a stumbling block. Recent maps show the line running from Shawnee Jct northward to Caballo Jct and Donkey Creek, but maps printed in the Official Guide for Feb, 1959 do not show any lines between those two points. CB&Q runs thru Caballo eastward into Neb with a second line running parallel but further south thru Orin and again into Neb. CNW is also in the area running thru Orin and on to Caspar, futher west. No official guide map I can find shows a north-south connecting line between the two CB&Q routes. Was this constructed back in the 1980's, or am I missing something really important??
