For sure not a line into town, as it was right at the mouth of the canyon, where the current road junction of US 2 and the Icicle River road is located. May well have been a logging line, but it doesn't seem likely. Only thought I have (and nothing to back it up) is that it may have had something to do with the construction of the fish hatchery.
