Preservation of the Alhambra Theater went before the public as a bond measure in 1973 for the City to purchase the property and lost. The two historic facilities in the railyard that Thomas Enterprises agreed to donate to State Parks and Recreation are also private property. The City has no power or authority outside of Imminent Domain (very touchy subject)to force preservation of historic buildings not currently on the National register or in nomination status.
