Re: Rails of debt: Parent company of local train operator struggles

Perhaps there needs to be a concentrated effort to get out of the office and do some "pressing of the flesh" with all online customers and with those who used to ship but no longer do and find out the why. A good salesman/woman, if given the right tools, can bring valuable income providing that the management is willing to "give a little to get a litte".

Are the various charges written in stone without any flexibility?

Is the shipping charges the same?

Is the new operator willing to be flexible on the rates/charges?

Are there any incentives to bring back old customers or to entice new or current customers?

Is the new operator flexible to the customer's needs?

And I agree with the poster with their message further down this list that stated perhaps a deal could be worked out between the SC&MBRR and the UPRR for trackage rights into Hollister and for more access to customers in Watsonville, Castroville and Salinas to garner more shipping from those remaining and potential online companies. The CFNR did just a great job by getting out and doing some "pressing of the flesh" approach and garnered a lot of valuable online business and new potential shipping/receiving customers. There is a lot of rail shipping/receiving potential in the entire area, so what's keeping the SC&MBRR from getting increased rail traffic and a good worthwhile deal and agreement with the UPRR?
