Can't speak for the other posters here, but, in Western Mass, local folklore does include sightings of ghosts in the tunnel. A track walker run over in the line of duty, the headless brakeman, the excavators killed in the central shaft fire.
Folklore, I am sure, but now and again, there are reports of people feeling a presence while in the tunnel. It is a dank, gloomy place.
