Brandon,

Job 230, etc are assigned switch engine crews. Usually, 100-series jobs work the day shift, 200-series the afternoon, and 300-series the midnight shift. Job 101, for instance, might start at 0630, 0700, or 0800.

VBC is indeed downtown Vancouver, BC. VBT is Canadian National's Thornton Yard, located southeast of Vancouver in Surrey, BC.
