The wife has relatives living in Alsea, OR., a little ways SW of this mess. The re - alignment project has become quite the sour joke among the locals. The current alignment of U.S. Hwy 20 has A LOT of twisty bits that this project was supposed to eliminate. The route has quite a bit of truck traffic, lumber and chips, from the mill @ Toledo, OR.
A couple of questions : Wasn't ODOT supposed to review the plans and soil samples before allowing the project to proceed ??/? If so, then why did ODOT kick out the contractor and take over the day - to - day on this project ??? I smell a cover - up here...
