While they may have the glare effect happen, someone should have designed the coach to reduce the possible glare.
I commuted on ACTransit in the bay area for over 10 years, mostly in the front passenger seat on an MCI coach. I can tell you the 'chrome' and hard glossy surfaces were replaced with matte or dark finishes designed not to reflect light.
On the occasition we had a local coach replacing the MCI I agree that glare was an issue from the bright or glossy finishes and the chrome hand rails.
However that being said, the driver was a professional and most likely drove the same route for some time and should have been aware of the railroad crossing. I hope that in CANADA a coach is required to stop at a RR crossing regardless of signal indication.
