Large chasm on UP (old D&RGW) east of Moffat Tunnel -- "Lost Bogie Canyon" -- YIKES!
Look at
THIS!
Yikes! Wonder how long it will take to
repair THAT? And: is that the only place
the ground is very unstable and unsafe to
take a train over?
Re: coal from the mine on the Craig Branch:
would it be worth it to build a new line due north
to connect to the UP's main line in Wyoming?
It would connect 26 miles west of Rawlins.
I know -- that would be around 90 miles of new
track, but it looks as though it might be do-able.
For now (the foreseeable future?) the CZ will
detour through Wyoming between Salt Lake City and
Cheyenne. The line through Greeley is now open,
so Amtrak can run Cheyenne-Denver on the UP. No
bus bridge needed.
Comments, anyone?
