The 4450 has donated many parts for other projects, and the 4404 has been sold to another company. Whether they flatcar it out or cut it up for parts is on them as the new owners. I know they tried to convert it to alignment control couplers, but that turned out to be a fiasco. SD9 frames were built upside down and NEVER designed for anything like alignment control draft gear assemblies. So, we do what we can, but you're right; we can't save it all.
