Mr. Peoples is one of our more vocal opponents of any transportation spending that isn't bike-centric. Google his name to see his assorted screeds in the local paper and online forums. My favorite is his assertion that widening Highway 1 isn't needed because of nascent technology for cars that automatically keeps perfect spacing between cars. I wonder how he expects all the poverty stricken South County residents to go buy new vehicles with a technology that is only available in $100k+ luxury models.

Thanks for the report, Howard. It will be interesting to see what has been done with the dinner train cars besides (hopefully) new wheel set in the year since they were bought and moved for maintenance. That should be a nice ride in the domes, the landfill notwithstanding, but they would be foolish to ignore the Santa Cruz-Davenport run in the future once the bridges are fixed.
