They should have hired a RR flagman for the event

Many many years ago when the Santa Fe 2nd District ran thru Pasadena the Santa Fe had a flagman
at Colorado Blvd overnight and just before the start of the Rose Parade
(they shut the line down during the event) but there was always a flagman on duty
If only Midland would have paid the UP to provide someone to be at that crossing to warn law enforcement and parade personnel of approaching train traffic (maybe also a slow order and whistle freely thru town might have been a good idea)
At Glamis on the Yuma Sub each holiday weekend all trains slow to 40 and whistle freely due to the large number of off roaders that ride close to and in some cases jump over the tracks
Spend one or two hundred bucks and save many lives!
