Metrolink plans stepped-up enforcement efforts and a public-safety campaign aimed at keeping people off the tracks under a $61,325 state safety grant it received this week.
The stay-off-the-tracks message may seem as clear as the flashing lights and lowered crossing arms that warn of a coming train. But four people have been hit and killed by Metrolink trains in Orange County this year. A train also hit a car that had stalled on the tracks, but the driver escaped unhurt.
