The plot has a vague tie-in to a real life event. A few years ago there was a manager at CSX who suggested they scrap the Santa Claus train that operates over the former Clinchfield as a cost-cutting move.

Shortly thereafter, either for that reason or others, he was given his walking papers.

I watched the credits to the show and noticed at the end the following: "Train furnished by Barbary Coast Hoyt Hotel, Portland Oregon"

Huh? Nary a mention of the Sierra Railroad.
