Thanks for the heads up, Matt. Spent nearly 8 years in that area while on the staff at Railfan & Railroad. Fin sounds all too much like some real-life people I've met both back East and out West. As for NYS&W traffic by the Newfoundland depot, in the mid-to-late 90s, you had a couple of stack trains (and eventually TOFC) each way daily, plus a manifest three or four days a week, and an occasional local or stone train making the round trip to Sparta Junction, N.J. Nowadays, though, from what my friends back there tell me, it's nowhere near what it used to be. Noticed that Ted Smith-Peterson has recently moved to New Jersey and is beginning to explore the Susy Q. Hope he finds the rocky clefts and wooded mountains in the northwest corner of NJ (not to mention neighboring PA and upstate NY) to be as appealing as I did. Kept me from going totally insane through all those years while counting the days until I could get my butt back to the Inland Northwest.
