Empire Builder -- Running or not? BNSF detours over Blues.

Read a newspaper story dated 12/12/13 that stated that Amtrak was going to simply cancel five runs of the Empire Builder due to heavy freight traffic and equipment failures related to earlier than expected severe cold weather? Train would run normally between Spokane and Seattle-Portland and St.Paul and Chicago. Said it hoped to get train back to normal in time for the holidays. Anyone know current status? Thanks in advance to all who reply.
(Also, on another discussion board, it was noted that BNSF is now running several trains a day over the UP Blue Mountains line due to lack of crews on its own lines.)
