It is my understanding that Cummins will supply the US tier 4 diesel engines.

"Buy America" often means an international locomotive with substantial parts and systems supplied by US Manufacturers. "Buy America" arguments were used for years by a certain "US" company to sell us 85% Portugese/Brazilion cars and to keep evil "foreign" Canadian (65% US content?) Bombardier cars out of our "Buy America" market.

Siemens has an extensive international experience with diesel electric locomotives.

My personal experience with Siemens North American in other areas of expertise is that it has always been a very impressive company. Yes, they are less well known to those of us raised on EMD's, GE's, Alco's, or even ancient Baldwin diesels, but so far they seem to have a pretty good record.
