"Backwoods Railroads" pg 23 - I'm standing on the front of POTB #4381 (for some reason I hated that engine). We should be just about to couple into our empties, push them through town and then drag them around our loads and head back to Banks. I presume the photo on the previous page is us returning to Banks. The WCRC centerbeams were leased to Hampton Lumber in Tillamook, the grain cars inbound loads for the Tillamook Creamery feed mill that was on Front St. in Tillamook.
The other crew would be running a second turn from Banks to Mahan to interchange with SP, the job with an SD9E out of Hillsboro might meet them. Once both POTB jobs return to Banks, the trains will be put together with the grain loads on the head end and should tie up in Tillamook that night. One crew would deadhead back, so I might have taken the train on to Tillamook (all 4 of us were qualified to run or work the ground), work on signal inspections or even met Shortline Sammie to pick up radios he was having repaired for POTB.
We had such a screwball schedule that if you just caught the train by chance you should have bought some lottery tickets as luck was truly with you!
