THANK YOU for going in depth on that history. Pretty amazing. I still get to Banks quite a lot as I live close. And I knew Bob Steele - for a couple years I helped out with creating postcards and brochures for his RR ops. Good guy; big dreamer. Where did he end up?
Yes there was a spur on the north side of the tracks that got boxcar loads of cottonseed. Right by the North Plains station sign. There was always product on the ground around the loading dock. I think it was fed to cows. I think it was VanDyke, and they had a fire that closed their op there as I recall... Must be BN brought it in. There were always boxcars on teh sidings just east of downtown North Plains...
