SP had a total of 14 GE 44-tonners, mainly numbered in the 1900 class. Several went from SP to its subsidiaries and sometimes back yet again. One of the 14 was jointly owned by SP and UP as Pacific Fruit Express #1 and was assigned (I believe) to the Roseville PFE facility. Two were later assigned SP Maintenence of Way numbers and used solely for MW work. The last one active on the system was Visalia Electric 502 and was in captive service on the old VE ex-interurban rails (read: old and lightweight and unable to handle a heavier locomotive), used only during lemon harvests, retired in the early 70s. Im thinking at least a few spent most of their working lives in Oregon, near Eugene.
