After spending 19,011 days at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds, Big Boy #4014 plans to leave home and start a new chapter in railroad history.

Big Boy #4014 is scheduled to move onto the rail lines of Metrolink and Union Pacific, from the fairgrounds parking lot this weekend. Union Pacific will also deliver SD40-2c locomotive U.P. #3105, caboose U.P.P. #24567, and another piece of rolling stock into the fairgrounds parking lot.

The Fairplex parking lot will be open all night Saturday into Sunday morning to allow the public to safely witness Big Boy #4014’s departure, and arrival of the new equipment. Enter from Fairplex Gate #15 on Arrow Hwy, which is between Fairplex Dr and White Ave. RailGiants Train Museum staff will be on-hand.

More information is expected on our Big Boy News page beginning on Friday: [up4014.org]

This move’s timing is subject to many factors that can change without prior notice.

PLEASE remain at safe locations this weekend and avoid trespassing on railroad and private property.
